The volunteer members of the New City Fire Department hosted fellow volunteers from throughout Rockland County Saturday night for a party to dedicate New City's new fire truck.
The new tanker truck arrived earlier this year to replace an aging fire tanker. Tonight's celebration is a "wetdown," a firehouse tradition in which a new piece of firefighting equipment gets sprayed down in a kind of baptism ceremony.
The celebration included food and music at New City's firehouse on Maple Avenue, right across the street from Clarkstown Town Hall.
