Traffic violation leads to arrest.

A Mahwah, NJ, resident was charged with drunken driving after being stopped by police for an early-morning traffic violation in Pomana, according to the Rockland County Sheriff's Department.

Cale Daoust, 21, of Mahwah, was stopped at 3:11 a.m. Thursday on Summit Park Road in Pomona for going through a stop sign and failing to use signals. Police said Daoust appeared intoxicated when questioned by a Sheriff's officer and was charged with driving while intoxicated.

Daoust was taken to Rockland Sheriff's Headquarters in New City and later released pending an Aug. 28 hearing in Ramapo Town Court in Airmont. In addition to DWI, a misdemeanor, police said Daoust was cited for having an open container of an alcoholic beverage in the car.
