Police Identify Woman Killed in Pomona Crash

Ramapo Police Thursday released the name of the woman who suffered fatal injuries in a vehicle crash on Route 202 in Pomona Wednesday morning.

Cecilia Islas-Galvez, 44, of Passaic, NJ was riding in the third-row passenger seat in a Dodge Caravan that was one of two vehicles in the collision. She was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital, but died from injuries sustained in the crash.

Ramapo Police had withheld the names of all three people in the Dodge Caravan who were injured until family could be notified. Driver Ranulfo Tula-Nocelott, 44, of Passaic, NJ was admitted to Nyack Hospital with internal injuries. Middle row passenger Carolina Murillo-Mejis, 34, of Clifton, NJ is in critical condition at Westchester Medical Center.

Ramapo Police also corrected the name of the rear seat passenger in the other vehicle, a 1999 Acura. Oscar Capellao-ermid is in critical condition with internal injuries. He was taken from Nyack Hospital to Westchester Medical Center.

The crash is still under investigation, though icy roads were cited as a preliminary cause by police. Read the initial report on Patch here. Six people were injured in the crash, including the Islas-Galvez.
