Police: Man Foiled Interlock System, Drove Drunk Again

A Florida man who police say was driving erratically on Route 303 yesterday afternoon faces felony DWI charges and more.

On Monday April 14, 2014 at approximately 4:30 PM, the Clarkstown Police Department received a call from a motorist who observed a vehicle driving erratically on Rt. 303 in Valley Cottage.

The vehicle was located by responding patrol units, driving southbound Rt. 303 in the vicinity of the Palisades Mall. The responding officer observed the vehicle driving below the speed limit and crossing the lanes of traffic.

A traffic stop was conducted at Old Nyack Turnpike and Fair Acres Rd. The driver, John R. King, 56, of Boynton Beach, Fl. was interviewed and appeared to be intoxicated.

King refused to conduct field sobriety tests. He was placed under arrest and transported to Clarkstown Police Headquarters, where he refused to submit to a breathalyzer test.

John R. King was charged with felony DWI, due to a prior conviction within 10 years ( Felony), Aggravated Unlicensed Operator 1st and Circumventing an interlock system (misdemeanor). King was arraigned today at Clarkstown Justice Court. He 
was remanded to county jail on $5000 bail. He will appear in court on 4/16/2014.
