Clarkstown police detectives this morning are out in Nanuet looking for clues to Tuesday morning's bank robbery at the , where a gunman got away with at least $30,000 in a second robbery at the bank in less than a year.
Detectives today are handing out fliers to residents of the area in hopes of finding someone who may have seen the robbery flee the bank. The bank, located in the Kohl's shopping center along Route 59, was robbed about 9:30 a.m. — the same time the bank was robbed in April 2011.
A man armed with a silver handgun grabbed money from the bank and fled out a back door. Police from Clarkstown and numerous other local departments searched the area for hours, using a helicopter and police dogs, but did not make an arrest.
Here's a description of the robber:
- A black man between 25 and 40 years old
- He's about 5-foot-6
- He weighs about 180 pounds
- He wore a dark, or black, hoodie sweatshirt that was pulled tightly over his face
- He has a bushy black beard
- He was wearing dark grey sweatpants
- He had a black backpack
