The American Red Cross is assisting families that have been displaced by a fire Wednesday night at Town of Ramapo housing on Catamount Drive in Hillcrest.
Red Cross officials said six people were displaced by the fire, with two people needed emergency lodging. The Red Cross will be working with the fire victims today to provide further assistance.
The fire was battled by Hillcrest volunteer firefighters, with New City Fire Department and Spring Valley Fire Department volunteers called in for assistance.
Six apartments were damaged in the 7:30 p.m. fire, which is believed to be accidental and may be connected to work done earlier in the day at the complex.
