Speeding Stop Leads to DWI, Speeding, Traffic Charges


Clarkstown police officers conducted a traffic stop on Route 59 in front of the Sears Automotive at 1:50 a.m. April 13. The driver, a 45-year-old Spring Valley man, was  interviewed and appeared to be intoxicated.

Police administered field sobriety tests, which he failed. He was placed under arrest and transported to Clarkstown Police Headquarters where he submitted to a breathalyzer test, which he also failed.

He was issued an appearance ticket to return to Clarkstown Justice Court on May 14 to answer charges of driving while intoxicated (misdemeanor), driving with a blood alcohol concentration greater than .08 (misdemeanor), speeding (traffic infraction) and failing to use designated lane (traffic infraction), police said.
