A Stony Point man caught burglarizing a South Mountain Road home in New City last year has been sentenced to nine years in state prison.
, 45, of 320 Knights Corner, Stony Point, was sentenced by Judge William K. Nelson in New City after pleading guilty to second-degree burglary for a rash of burglaries that took place mainly in Stony Point in April and May 2011. Neslon also sentenced Schupner to five years of post-release supervision when he gets out of prison.
said that in some cases homeowners were present in their homes when Schupner committed the .
Schupner was arrested May 26, 2011, after Stony Point police and the Rockland County Intelligence Unit had placed him under surveillance in connection with five residential burglaries in Stony Point. He was followed to a home on South Mountain Road.
As Schupner went into the home, police nearby approached the home and took the keys out of his vehicle and waited for him to exit the home. When Schupner came out, police said he was arrested and found to be in possession of several stolen candle holders from the New City home.
