Cash register, $500 taken at Zukor Park in New City; food items taken at Germonds in West Nyack.

Thieves have struck at concession stands at two Clarkstown parks in New City and West Nyack.

Food items including pizza, ice cream, snacks and soft drinks were reported stolen from the pool concession stand on July 23. Clarkstown police said no forced entry to the concession stand was found.

The next day, July 24, the metal window gate at the concession stand, operated by through a vendor, was found pushed in and damaged. Police said someone entered the building and stole a cash register containing $500.

Both incidents are still under investigation, according to police.

Must have been a bunch of dope fiends that had "the munchies".

Keep opening more "public" venues in a primarily residential community and more thieves and undesirables will infiltrate the community. This does not bode well for the proposal before Clarkstown to rezone private homes into boarding houses. Lower taxes is the solution, not increased transient population.

Sounds very interesting. Why would they keep $500 in the cash register? It should be emptied at night and restocked in the morning. Things that make you go ummmm.
