Assemblyman Zebrowski Supports Senator Schumer’s Call To Ban Synthetic Marijuana

Assemblyman has sponsored similar legislation since 2010.

U.S. Senator Charles Schumer (D-NY) recently urged the federal government to pass a law banning the sale of and Assemblman Kenneth Zebrowski (D-New City) agrees with that proposal. Zebrowski said he thinks the sale of such chemicals should be totally banned.

"Since 2010 I have sponsored legislation to ban these substances in New York State," said Zebrowski.  “My current bill would ban all synthetic marijuana chemicals and will close loopholes in the law to ensure these dangerous materials stay off store shelves.  These chemicals serve no purpose other than to skirt our drug laws by providing a dangerous legal alternative to illegal drugs.”

Zebrowski noted the chemicals in synthetic marijuana are extremely harmful and measures should be taken to get them off the streets and away from Rockland County children.

Instead of banning it, tax it heavily, like cigarettes. At least that way the government (if not the people) could get something out of it. If the government taxes it enough, the manufacturers and distributors will go out of business.
