Ballot Draws For September Primary Completed

The first of the ballot draws at the Rockland County Board of Elections took place for candidates running on the Democratic line for county executive.  When the process started at 9:30 Thursday morning, Dagan Lacorte was the only candidate present. He selected a numbered ball, which earned him the second line on the September primary ballot, and Board of Elections employee Linda France picked out two others on behalf of Ilan Schoenberger and David Fried, who wound up with third and first place respectively.

Fried showed up in time to learn the results of the drawing. The next lottery held was also for county executive for the Conservative Party hopefuls. Simon Leschinsky wound up with the first place on the ballot while Thomas Sullivan received the second line.

The supplies used by the board for the past 10 years are similar to what would be seen at a Bingo game, a tray of numbered Bingo balls and a mesh Bingo cage in which the balls are spun. Republican Elections Commissioner Louis Babcock spun the balls until they dropped from the cage individually.
