The Clarkstown Town Board approved a new four-year agreement with the . The contract covers the town’s approximately 350 employees. The current agreement, which includes two percent annual increases, ends December 31.
Town Supervisor Alex Gromack said the funds for the new contract are included in the 2012 budget.
“We had accounted for that in the 2012 budget,” he said. “The agreement will not change the budget. The monies were already there.”
He said the provisions of the new contract are basically the same as for the current agreement. Since 2007, new employees of the town have been required to pay 10 percent of the cost of health benefits and that is included in the new pact.
Mary Maloney, president of the CSEA unit for Clarkstown, said the membership favored the agreement.
“It was an overwhelming response,” she said. “Everybody was in favor of it. Both sides agreed the two percent was fair.”
