The Clarkstown Town Board voted to ask the Rockland County Consortium to consider projects for replacing sidewalks and entrance doors at community centers and installing pedestrian signals and detectors for Community Development Block Grant funds. The requests are similar to ones made last year when the town received $55,000.
The board listed the acquisition of a vehicle to transport senior citizens within Clarkstown as its priority project. That was followed by a request for adding pedestrian signals and detectors including tactile arrows and locator tones at Squadron Blvd. and North Main Street in New City. The third item dealt with the renovating sidewalks and entrance doors at community centers to comply with ADA regulations.
At Tuesday’s meeting, the board accepted the resignation of Detective John Mahoney of New City, who retired after serving six years with the Clarkstown Police Department.
