County Executive Candidate Petition Challenges Denied

Rockland County Democratic Board of Elections Commissioner Kristen Stavisky said two of the petition challenges mounted by one county executive candidate against two of his challengers were denied on Monday.

Stavisky said Republican Ed Day’s challenge to Simon Leschinky’s petition to run on the Independence line was denied. She said Day’s motion to invalidate Ilan Schoenberger’s Independence line petition was also denied.  Day and Schoenberger are both county legislators.

Decisions are still outstanding on appeals by Democratic candidates Dagan Lacorte and Vladimir Leon claiming that their petitions are not flawed. Their petitions were declared invalid by the board of elections in July after opponent David Fried filed objections. The hearings began last week in Rockland County Supreme Court.
