Rockland County 911 Dispatchers' Annual Awards Dinner

911 dispatchers gathered to honor some of their own and the group's overall efforts in 2011.

Many of Rockland County's 70 emergency 911 dispatchers gathered Saturday to honor two of their colleagues and the group's overall efforts in 2011.

They recognized 911 Dispatchers of the Year Brian Davidson and Mark Rooney. Each member of the Rockland 911 Dispatchers Association received a certificate and plaque for their performance during Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee.

Davidson works for the Clarkstown Police Department and on Sept. 28 received a call that an 11-month-old child was not breathing. His plaque described his actions that led to the award "for his ability to calmly and professionally provide successful pre-arrrival emergency medical dispatch instruction to the mother of an an 11 month old not breathing."
