Clarkstown is seeking nominations for its first-ever Environmental Excellence Award. Clarkstown Town Supervisor Alex Gromack and the town board have announced the award recipient will be selected based on contributions to environmental preservation, beautification and improvement in the town. Nominations are due by September 19 and the first-time award will be presented on October 18.
Individuals, businesses and organizations can be nominated for the award. Participation as a volunteer or coordinator with a local environmental program or development of an innovative program that has benefited the town will also be considered. Information should also be provided about the amount of time a nominee has devoted to a program or programs.
"The Town of Clarkstown is a leader in environmental initiatives from purchasing to policy to public education," said Gromack. "This award will give us the opportunity to recognize those in our community who share our dedication to our environment."
Applicants can be any age and can be individuals living in town or organizations or businesses located or operating within Clarkstown. The application materials include a one-page nomination form, a 100 to 150-word summary of the nominee’s contribution and supporting materials such as media coverage or testimonials.
Access the application online or request one from the Office of Parks and Recreation at 845-639-6200.
“There are so many wonderful and talented volunteers who work selflessly every day to improve our quality of life,” said Council member Shirley Lasker (D-Upper Nyack). “They are the true unsung heroes and role models in our community.”
