I will be there to hear the State of the Town speech. Anyone going to be joining me? Will we be given any opportunity to comment on out of control spending, salaries and taxes?
Mike Hirsch January 03, 2012 at 12:05 AM
Yes you will.

If this recent wave of break ins and armed robbery continues, will we lose our status as the worlds safest Town? (Ha) Maybe the police should not have so much time off? They are off three days each week (43% of the week) PLUS another 81 days EACH YEAR! 30 vacation, 24 sick, 8 bereavement,7 personal and 12 holidays. Is it possible that this is the reason for these crimes? After all, you have to be"on the job" to do the job.

81days off a year is the equivalent of 11 weeks and 4 days. And when they return they only work 57% of the week. Thank God that the citizens of this Town are law abiding.

While all of these comments are great one needs to see something more than words. When are all of you going to coalesce around a candidate that is completely independent and who can effectively challenge the incumbents. Who is the person in this community who is going to run for Supervisor next time around and who will begin to articulate a set of options that the public can be informed about over the next 2 years? You need to begin by removing the Head of the Republican Party who can't seem to understand that he is supposed to suupport his party's candidate. Until you sort out the rot in the ranks you are not going to sort out any perceived rot at the top.

On the money with that one Neill. Check out our website www.clarkstowntaxpayers.com We've got over 1200 members but could use alot more.

Stop with the 81 days off already. You presume the employee is sick for 24 days and someone in his or her family dies each year. And how dare they have 12 national holidays every year! You would be better off focusing on state mandates and state arbitration and pension rules.
Mike Hirsch January 03, 2012 at 06:55 PM
We should focus on all of it, but the fact that the PBA has the politicians in their pocket makes it a pretty tough row to hoe. If they don't use their sick days, they cash them in at a cost of close to 3 million dollars per year to the town's taxpayers.

They work 4 days a week at 10 hrs a day. When they get paid for days off for whatever reason is it 10 hrs pay. Where do i sign up
