At Thursday's Senior Fair, senior citizens can find out about informational services, opportunities and ways to remain active in their communities. More than 80 exhibitors will at the free event, which Senator David Carlucci (D-Rockland/Orange) is hosting at Rockland Community College (RCC).
The four-hour event will showcase over 80 different vendors in the fields of healthcare services, recreational and educational programming, non-profit assistance, and financial services such as Merrill Lynch, Nyack Hospital, American Cancer Society, and Rand Realty Better Homes and Gardens. Members of the Rockland Symphony Orchestra and The Chorus of the Tappan Zee will perform. Several hundred seniors have already confirmed their attendance with the senator's office.
Carlucci will be joined at the program by Rockland Community College President Dr. Cliff L. Wood, Library Association of Rockland County representative Laura Grunwerg, Helen Hayes Hospital representative Mary Creagh, New City Bowl owner Alice Lenna, John DuLisse, Commander, American Legion Harry Wodar of David Lerner & Associates Financial Planning, and Eileen Herkes of the Adult Computer Learning Center.
According to Carlucci’s office, studies have consistently shown that friendships, socialization and an active lifestyle are vital for the health and well-being of people as they grow older. The event is billed as a chance for seniors to continue aging-in-place while taking advantage of the community-based services that make independent living possible
