Intersections Blocked, Community Centers Open

Update on Clarkstown Post Sandy

 

Clarkstown Police vehicles are blocking many of the intersections on Route 304 because of non-working traffic signals.  Drivers cannot make left hand turns or cross over the highway at most intersections.  The intersection of Route 304 and Congers Road in New City is fully open.

The only County shelter is located at Rockland Community College Field House where cots and light snacks a provided. Personal items and medications should be brought with residents using the facility. The Red Cross is operating the shelter, which is pet friendly.

Clarkstown has three community centers open today until 10 p.m. They are: Central Nyack Community Center at 58 Waldron Avenue in Central Nyack, Congers Community Center at 6 Gilchrest Road in Congers and Pascack Community Center at 87 New Clarkstown Road in Nanuet. Residents can use the facility to charge electronics or warm up and should bring their own water, food and medications.  

Mini Trans service is running on a modified schedule due to downed trees and road closures. Garbage and recycling pick up has resumed. All recreation programs including senior clubs remain cancelled until further notice.

The SATs scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 3 at Clarkstown North and South high schools have been postponed. They will be rescheduled. Clarkstown schools are closed through Friday, Nov. 2. A decision about reopening is expected on Sunday.
