Removal Of Former County Clerk's Building Continues

Demolition expected to be complete within days

Th process of knocking down the former Rockland along New Hempstead Road is proceeding.  The one-story structure needed to be removed as part of the reconstruction of New Hempstead Road.  Much of the center portion of the building has been removed and the debris sorted for recycling.

Demolition of the building began Wednesday.  The road will eventually be straighter and more level in that area of New Hempstead Road which has now an "S" curve on a hilly section.  The reconstruction of New Hempstead Road covers the section between North Main Street and the Palisades Interstate Parkway ramps.
