New City Man Charged With Damaging Malone Sign

Clarkstown police arrested John Finn, 48, of New City on Tuesday for allegedly damaging a campaign sign of Dennis Malone who is running for Clarkstown Highway Superintendent. Police report Finn was charged with criminal mischief fourth degree, a misdemeanor.

“At approximately 9:30 p.m., a witness observed Finn causing damage to a campaign sign belonging to Dennis Malone which was located at the intersection of Walnut Court and Main Street, New City,” said Sgt. Jo Anne Fratianni. “The damage was consistent with holes from pulling the sign from its mounting.”

Malone said it was the third or fourth instance of a sign being damaged at that location. He said a video camera placed in a tree had recorded one of the earlier incidents of an individual tearing down his campaign sign and throwing it into a yard.
