Overnight Closure Of Little Tor Road For Repaving

The Rockland Highway Department will close Little Tor Road between New Hempstead Road and John Street for overnight paving of the Little Tor Road and New Hempstead Road intersection. The closure goes in effect at 7 p.m. Thursday and is scheduled to end at 8 a.m. on Friday.   

North and southbound traffic will be detoured to John Street.  Flag people will be posted at several points to direct traffic and detour signs are posted. Reverse 911 calls went out to New City, New Hempstead and Congers residents on Wednesday to notify them about the pending closure.

The work is part of the ongoing reconstruction of New Hempstead Road between North Main Street in New City and the Palisades Interstate Parkway.   The 28-month-long project will cost $28.5 million for the reconstruction of that two-mile section of roadway.
