One of the great realities of living in the Northeast is pothole season. New City streets have taken a beating this year with all the inclement weather and freezing and thawing that took place.
Potholes appear when the pavement cracks, moisture builds up in the cracks and then freezes and thaws. It's a problem that really can't be avoided. Potholes can be a year-long problem but are especially noticeable in the spring after streets are plowed and sanded over the winter. And today is the first day of Spring.
Do you have bad potholes in your neighborhood? Post the locations here and if you can, snap a picture and upload it here too (but be safe while taking pictures!). The Clarkstown Highway Department has an Online Work Request Form that can be filled out to alert them to potholes.
As the snow continues to melt be careful driving especially through puddles, which may be potholes deeper than expected.
