Public Hearing On Amending Zoning Law For New City

Clarkstown Town Board recognizes athletic, outdoor & environmental achievements

 

The Clarkstown Town Board will recognize Megan Hannon of Valley Cottage, who won the New York State Elks Hoop Shoot Championship, president of the United Sportsmen Assoc. of Rockland County, who was elected to the New York State Outdoorsmen Hall of Fame and present two Environmental Excellence Awards to the Valley Cottage Library and Peggy Kurtz. 

The board will hold a public hearing at tonight’s 8 p.m. meeting on amending the zoning in New City and revising the town’s zoning map. In April 2012 the board heard a presentation recommending zoning changes for the downtown area. The board is expected to vote on scheduling four public hearings, three of them for June 4th.

The public hearings planned for June 4th include the Valley Cottage Fire District boundary lines map and a proposed local law to amending Chapter 290-3, which deals with definitions in the town code and refer it to the Clarkstown Planning Board and Rockland County Department of Planning. The third public hearing on that evening will deal with a proposed law to amend zoning for Senior Citizen Housing, Senior Citizen Congregate Housing and Assisted Care Living Quarters in Clarkstown and also referring it to the town planning board and county Department of Planning.

The board will set a public hearing for July 2nd on a proposed local law amending Town Code Chapters 5, 93, 173, 198, 220, 224, 240, 244, 249A, 270, 278, 290, A295, A308 and deleting Town Code Chapters 231, 239, 248, 249 and 263.

They will vote on awarding bids for Phase III of the Revitalization of South Main Street, 2013 Roadway Resurfacing Program, 2013 Concrete Curb and Sidewalk Replacement Program
and Denver Drive drainage improvements. Additionally they will vote on an agreement with H2M to provide engineering services for alternate drainage improvement designs for South Mountain Road.

Board members will vote on authorizing an “Adopt-a-Spot” agreement with Blue Sky Landscapers, Inc. for the corner of Lake Road and Kings Highway in Valley Cottage and “Adopt-a-Road” agreements with Nazzaro Disposal for Lakewood Drive in Congers, Steve Weiss Landscaping, Inc. for Old Mill Road in Valley Cottage and Blue Sky Lawn Care & Landscaping, Inc. for Lake Road and Kings Highway in Valley Cottage.
