Rockland BOE Seeks Poll Workers

They're also looking for Election Inspectors

With elections coming up and dozens of polling locations throughout the county, the Rockland County Board of Elections is in need of people to run those locations.

They're looking for poll workers and election inspectors to staff their 275 Election Districts for elections throughout the year.

In order to serve, you must be 18-years-old and a registered voter enrolled in either the Democratic or Republican Party.

"Becoming a Poll Worker is an excellent opportunity to dedicate your time and energy to your community while making new friends," according to the Rockland Board of Elections website. "Poll Workers are paid for their time spent working on the election and attending required certification classes."

The work day begins at 5:30 a.m. and ends after the polls close at 9 p.m.
The Board of Elections pays Poll Workers $175 per election and $25 for every required class.

"In many ways the success of the electoral process depends on the competence and dedication of the individuals who work at the polling place on Primary and General Election Days. The Right to Vote is one of our Nation's oldest and most important traditions and with this right comes responsibility. The basis for a democracy is having free and open elections. You can help make a difference by becoming a Poll Worker and facilitating this process."

For more information on how to become a Poll Worker or Election Inspector please call: (845) 638-5172.
