Rockland Cooling Centers Open on Weekend; Pollution Alert Continues
Air quality health advisory issued for Saturday.
Rockland County is keeping its cooling centers open through this weekend to give residents some relief from the extreme heat. In addition to the high temperatures and high humidity levels, an air quality health advisory has already been issued for Saturday. A high ozone level is expected.
Some cooling centers are open both Saturday and Sunday while others will be closed on Sunday. Be sure to check before going to a center. The Street Community Center in New City allows residents to bring pets with them.

Advisory Issued
Commissioner Dr. Joan H. Facelle alerts residents that an Air Quality Health Advisory for the Metropolitan New York City region, including Rockland County, has been issued for Saturday, July 23. The New York State Department of Health and Department of Environmental Conservation issue Air Quality Health Advisories. The pollutant level of ozone is expected to exceed national air quality standards.
