Rockland IDA Welcomes Hunter Douglas to Pearl River

Hunter Douglas, Inc. recently moved its North American headquarters into Blue HIll Plaza in Pearl River.

Hunter Douglas, Inc. recently moved its North American headquarters from Upper Saddle River, NJ to Blue Hill Plaza in Pearl River.

Rockland Industrial Development Agency Chairman Eric Dranoff, Esq. and Rockland County Executive C. Scott Vanderhoef recently welcomed executives from Hunter Douglas, which received tax benefits through IDA to help the transition.

"Our mission at the IDA is to ensure our incentives facilitate business growth in Rockland County," Dranoff said. "Hunter Douglas' investment in Rockland, and New York State, represents a significant addition to our local business community and further endorses the strength of our economy."

Hunter Douglas spent nearly $10 million on renovations and equipment for its new office space.

"We're pleased that we relocated to Blue Hill Plaza," said Marv Hopkins, President and CEO of Hunter Douglas North America. "The new offices provide a superior environment for our employees and visitors and afford us room for growth while effectively showcasing our products and business. The Plaza's pastoral setting, with its close proximity to Manhattan and many tri-state towns and cities, make it an ideal location for us. We look forward to being part of the Pearl River and Rockland County communities."

Vanderhoef pointed to the importance of the IDA in bringing in companies such as Hunter Douglas.

"The IDA is the mechanism that provides the town and the county the wherewithal to retain the quality corporations that form our economic base," Vanderhoef said. "I applaud the efforts of the IDA and all of those involved in this project as we continue to attract new businesses that help promote a healthy economy in Rockland."

Hunter Douglas, which manufactures architectural products, reported sales of $2.6 billion in 2011 and employs more than 16,000 people worldwide.

"Attracting world class companies like Hunter Douglas has immediate impact on the local economy," said Steven Porath, executive director of the IDA. "Not only does it showcase Rockland's excellent business climate and superb quality of life, but it helps us attract other businesses of the same high caliber."
