Assemblyman Kenneth Zebrowski (D-New City) thanked residents of his district on Friday for the outpouring of support and donations during this year’s Toys-for-Tots drive. He also thanked the Marine Corps, who run the program every year, for their continued service.
The assemblyman’s office has served as a drop off location for the last six years collecting hundreds of toys brought in by residents. This year’s collection of toys was the biggest in the six years Zebrowski hosted the drive.
“It was encouraging to see the amount of donations we received this year. In the wake of Hurricane Sandy it is important not to forget about those children whose families were left with nothing and are still rebuilding. Even a single toy that a child receives can brighten their holiday. I am thankful to everyone who donated to this wonderful cause,” said Zebrowski.
Toys-for-Tots is a not-for-profit program run by the United States Marine Corps Reserve which distributes toys to children whose parents cannot afford to buy them gifts for Christmas. The program was founded in 1947 by reservist Major William L. Hendricks.
