Top 10 Most Read Stories On New City Patch In 2011

Crime, community and business were the most read topics this year

As 2011 draws to a close, we thought it would be interesting to highlight the top 10 stories for this year, according to our site traffic reports.

Not surprisingly, the most popular stories are rooted in the community: crime and local business.

They were local stories that had direct impact on you: the Tappan Zee Bridge protestor, who dangled from the span and jammed traffic, the missing New City woman, who was found safe two days after she disappeared, and drugs sold from an ice cream parlor.  Sadly, there were stories about tragedy: a man, who fell to his death inside the Palisades Mall, a young girl who was sexually assaulted there and a former New City resident murdered in Florida.  Looking toward the future there was optimism expressed about the plans to replace the Nanuet Mall.

We'll maintain our focus on the topics that matter most to you in 2012.  And we'll continue to strive toward fulfilling the Patch mission: to make life ridiculously easy for you and your neighbors.

Here's the top ten list. What got your attention?  Tell us in the comments.

What about Josh Berg's experience in Alaska being mauled by a grizzly bear? That was on New City Patch for quite some time.
