Town And School Boards Meeting On Mall Tax Cert Settlement

The Clarkstown School and Clarkstown Town boards have scheduled a special joint meeting on Monday, July 29 to vote on a settlement of the Palisades Center tax certiorari lawsuit. The meeting at 6:30 p.m. at school district offices will immediately adjourn to executive session.

Following the closed session the two boards along with their attorneys will reconvene the public meeting “to vote on a potential settlement and authorize funding to effectuate said settlement.”

Palisades Center has appealed its property tax assessments of $252,958,700 for 2009, 2010 and 2011. A judge’s decision on the lawsuit filed in Rockland County Supreme Court was expected in early 2013.
