Town of Clarkstown Partners with Jawonio to Offer Free Shredding

Town residents eligible to shred three boxes of documents

 

The Town of Clarkstown and Jawonio have partnered to offer residents free service on Saturday, Feb. 11 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.  Residents can bring three small boxes or the equivalent of two Town recycling bins filled with documents to be shredded at at 260 North Little Tor Road in New City.

Participants will need to show proof of residency and have the choice of watching documents being shredded or remaining in the waiting area.  Receipts will be provided.

“This is a wonderful opportunity to offer residents a great and convenient way to get rid of all those piles of papers lying around,” said Town Supervisor Alex Gromack.  “The Town is proud to partner with Jawonio for this special event and help support people with disabilities.” 

has a commercial shredder that can handle multiple boxes per hour.  Several of its employees are trained to use it.  Jawonio is a certified provider of shredder service through the NYS Industries for the Disabled and contracts throughout the community.

residents should enter Jawonio from Little Tor Road and follow signs through the parking lot to enter the building from the side door.  A snow date of February 25th has been scheduled.  For more information residents can call the Town Supervisor’s office at 639-2050 or email a.gromack@clarkstown.org.
