Youth Police Academy Graduation On Tuesday

Town Board to hold public hearing on Neighborhood Shopping Zoning

The Clarkstown Town Board will begin its Tuesday night meeting with the graduation of the Youth Police Academy at 8 p.m.  This is the second Youth Police Academy graduation this year. Also on the agenda is a public hearing on amending the zoning code to allow “Neighborhood Shopping.”

According to the proposal made in September by the town's consultant,  Neighborhood Shopping zoning would allow small stores, restaurants, and office space.  The recommendation also called for one floor of apartments over commercial businesses.  The presentation on Neighborhood Shopping was part of a review of the existing zoning along the state highway corridors of Routes 9W, 303 and 304.

The board will vote on authorizing a maintenance agreement in connection with the Rockland Mental Health Association holding site plan and extending an agreement with H2M Group for engineering services for the Clarkstown Transfer Station. Board members will vote on authorizing the town supervisor and police chief sign an agreement with Rockland County for “STOP-DWI” Funds for the November 21, 2012 Sobriety Checkpoint.

There is a tentative resolution on the agenda that would allow an agreement with H2M Group for engineering services to improve the Lake Nanuet Pool Complex’s drainage system.
