My kid is the real deal!!
So, I'm sure this thought has gone through many dad's minds as their child smashes the ball off the tee in the park. Right? I tell you my kid is taking offers right now from agents on his Diego Phone!!
Seriously, parents please let your child have fun, explore and develop. I remember going out and just playing games in the neighborhood. I was moving every muscles and in every direction. I know times have changed but enough with the specialization of only one sport year round. As far as I have read, there is no definitive research that proves your child will be better if he or she plays on three different teams year round for one sport.
As my child grows, my coach's hat has to come off and I need to be a parent. Take a look at my child and say, "Is my child happy?" So many times, I see a parent that wants to push and ask about athletic training for 6 or 7 year old. Really? Is it really necessary for a child to train three hours a day for three days a week as a six year old? Is it really necessary to pitch for a travel baseball game in the morning and then drive two hours to play for the "rec" team that afternoon?
Maybe Yes or NO!! There are so many factors but above all make sure that your child is not living out your fantasy and IS BEING A KID!!
