Building a Better Rockland - Part II
Since we've been posting our Community Cares blog, we've received questions from readers asking for more information about who the Rockland Community Foundation is and why we are here.
Quite simply, we're here for Rockland! We exist to connect donors in our county with locally based causes that they care about. We're about neighbors helping neighbors, and building a better Rockland.
In last week's post, we took a look at community foundations -- what they are and why they are important to the geographies they serve. This week, we're taking a closer look at how the Rockland Community Foundation is bringing the community foundation mission to our county -- and how individuals and other non-profits are benefitting.
Who We Are
The Rockland Community Foundation is a charitable organization that connects people with causes they care about. With over 22 funds, and more being added each year, we are helping to make a difference by keeping donations in the county where we live, work, and raise our families.
Through grants, scholarships, disaster response, or our position as a community leader addressing pressing needs, we're dedicated to improving life in the county we all call home.
Why We Are Important
To donors, we provide a simple yet effective means to achieve both their charitable and tax savings goals, allowing them to address specific issues through funds that they create and we steward.
To charitable organizations, we are a source of grant funding for programs that enable them to enhance the quality of life for those they touch.
To students, we provide scholarships that will help support their future educational goals.
To honor a loved one, by establishing a memorial fund with the Foundation in support of a cause that was important to them, we help you celebrate their life and keep their memory alive in perpetuity.
In times of crisis, we are the county's advocate, working with local individuals and businesses to channel their donor dollars for recovery funding at home.
In 2012 alone, we awarded 22 grants across a variety of causes. And we're still going strong thanks to the support of our community!
For Now. For Ever. For Rockland.
Looking to make a difference in Rockland? Consider opening a fund with the Rockland Community Foundation, or make a donation to one of our 22 existing funds. Either way, you'll have the confidence of knowing your donation will have an impact right here at home.
So think about where your passion lies -- then give us a call!
About the Community Cares Blog and the Rockland Community Foundation
The Community Cares Blog, hosted by the Rockland Community Foundation, celebrates the spirit of giving in our community. Each week, we will post a story of philanthropy or shine a spotlight on an activity that is making a difference in the lives of our neighbors. We invite Rockland non-profits, individuals and businesses to contribute to the Community Cares blog by sending an email to info@rocklandgives.org.
As the umbrella charitable organization for the county, the Rockland Community Foundation is working to connect donors with the causes they care about most.
