Rockland Community Foundation Honors Earth Day with a New Fund Announcement: The Green Cemetery Fund

The Rockland Community Foundation is pleased to announce the addition of the following new fund to its portfolio:

Green Cemetery Fund

The fund has been created with the goal of establishing a sustainable alternative to conventional cemeteries, offering ecologically sound burial options and a natural return to earth. Each burial supports restoration and preservation of pristine, underdeveloped open space.

Fittingly, fund owner Kerry Potter elected to establish the Green Cemetery Fund on Earth Day. "On a day which advocates support in protecting the environment, I am grateful that the Rockland Community Foundation has provided me the opportunity to set up the Green Cemetery Fund," says Kerry.

"This fund is intended to establish a Natural Cemetery Preserve under the guidelines of the Green Burial Council," Kerry continues, "Green burial advocates caring for the dead in a way that is respectful, while it minimizes environmental impact, preserves natural resources, protects worker health and preserves our habitat."
