Approved: Carey Proposal To Reduce New TZB Toll For Rocklanders

Legislator Carey introduced the proposal after Governor Cuomo announced that Staten Island residents would pay a reduced toll of $5.50 for the Verrazano Bridge. Carey’s proposal requests a toll reduction for Rockland residents that would be directly proportional to the reduction provided to Staten Island residents who use the Verrazano Bridge.

“I am thankful to my colleagues for unanimously supporting this measure, and I am proud to advocate for all Rockland residents on this critical matter,” said Legislator Carey. “I hope that our state officials will work together to provide our residents the same courtesy that other residents in the state have. Rocklanders deserve this discount and I will continue to push for it.”
Staten Island residents are provided a 63% discount when they use the Verrazano Bridge. The proposed toll for the New Tappan Zee Bridge is $14, so if Rockland residents were provided the same percentage discount, their cost for crossing the new bridge would be roughly $5.00.
