June Happenings at Cropsey Community Farm

Join us for our workshops at the farm this month: Sunday, June 2 Family Sundays: Farmers in the Field 10am – 11:30am $10 first child, $5 each additional per family *Children must be accompanied by an adult* This monthly program for children and their favorite grown-ups explores seasonal topics related to local agriculture. This session joins the farmers in the field. We'll learn about the different hand tools they use to cultivate the beds and take a closer look at the tractors and their crazy-looking attachments. We'll join a farmer for a task or two as they care for the growing vegetables. We'll discuss the why, the what, and a few simple ways of how you can get started without spending much money. Each attendee goes home with some Cropsey compost and information from the Rockland Solid Waste Management Authority to inspire you! Raindate June 27th. Saturday, June 22nd Wild Edibles Walk with Suburban Foragers 10am - 11:30am $15 per person Explore the edible plants growing beyond the farm fence on a walk led by Paul Tappenden from Suburban Foragers. Learn to identify wild edible and medicinal plants, their benefits, and how to prepare them. You will leave with a heightened awareness of the abundance of food that grows around us.
