Back to School in Clarkstown: What's on the List?

Parents spend about $688 on back-to-school expenses. That covers school supplies and clothes.

 

From to Target to  to  to , the back-to-school commercials are officially in overdrive and the brighly colored flyers are piling up. And in New City, the beginning of the school year is not far away.

For the parents and caregivers out there, that means lots of shopping for notebooks, backpacks, laptops and locker decor during these few remaining weeks.

On average, folks with kids in grades K-12 will spend $688.62 on back-to-school supplies this year, according to a survey by the National Retail Foundation. That's up from the average of $603.63 last year, the NRF reports.

The Clarkstown School District posts two supply lists on its website. One is for personal and organizational items for kindergarten through fifth grade. The other is a general list of school supplies for students from kindergarten through eighth grade with a notation that the classroom teacher will share information about specific quantities needed.
