Clarkstown graduates will have to wait a little longer for their graduation to be official and their Moving-Up ceremony to take place. The Clarkstown School District announced it is pushing back the starting time of tonight and tomorrow's school graduations and changing the locations of two Moving-Up ceremonies because of expected high temperatures and humidity.
The Birchwood School ceremony originally scheduled for 6 p.m. tonight will instead take place at 7 p.m. The graduation will still be held in the school's courtyard. Tonight's Moving-Up Ceremony for New City Elementary School fifth graders has been relocated to Clarkstown South. The times remain the same, student arrive at 5 p.m. and the program begins at 5:30 p.m.
The Clarkstown South High School graduation originally set for 5:30 p.m. will occur two and a half hours later at 8 p.m. It will be held on the school's football field. The Congers Elementary School Moving-Up Ceremony has been moved to Clarkstown South. It will take place Thursday at 3 p.m.
