Rams Place Third In Tournament, Receive Individual Championships

Guevarra receives Champion Award and Kash marks 100th victory

At the 39th Annual Mamaroneck Wrestling Tournament on Saturday, the Clarkstown North Wrestling team took third place out of a field of 14 teams. They finished behind John Glenn (Section XI) and Glenn Cove (Section VIII) with five individual champions. 

For outstanding wrestling, Dean Guevarra was selected by the coaches to receive the Champion of Champions Award for three winning matches by pin and another by victory over an All-Section athlete from Long Island. Colby Kash also recorded his 100th career victory to become only the fourth RAMS wrestler in history to achieve this milestone. 

The individual winners were: Brian Hong (106 lbs.), Dean Guevarra (120 lbs.), Mike Seligson (126 lbs.), Rob Namme (138 lbs.), and Colby Kash (145 lbs.)

Tony Mellino, head wrestling coach at Clarkstown North High School, said Justin Hong (113 lbs.) took second place, Andrew Seid (132 lbs.) took third, and both Louis DeLucia (113 lbs.) and Dave Crispino (170 lbs.) took fifth place.
