State Test Assessment Presentation At School Board Meeting

A presentation on the New York State Testing Program will be given at tonight’s Clarkstown School Board meeting.  District Director of Curriculum and Instruction Dr. Margaret Ruller will explain the program which is based on Common Core Standards.

The scores of the Math and English Language tests given in the spring led to more students being assigned to intervention services in September.  

The district is holding a Common Core Learning Standards presentation on Tuesday, Oct. 29 from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at its Chestnut Grove offices. Clarkstown’s curriculum team will give an “overview of the shifts in ELA and Math Instruction informed by the Common Core Learning Standards. Parents will be informed about the new learning experiences for our students and have an opportunity to ask questions.

Other agenda items include votes on approving the purchase five Apple Mac Minis for $7,846 and Pool Safety & Emergency Plan and Athletic Department Handbook for 2013-2014. 

The board will vote on a request to waive facility use fees of $2884 for the Vinny Bernardone Memorial Basketball Tournament at Felix Festa Middle School and Clarkstown South High School on October 26 and 27 and November 2 and 3.  The proceeds of theannual tournament organized by St. Francis of Assisi CYO Basketball of West Nyack go to helping local families in need.
