New School Tours Available For Congers Families

The Clarkstown School District announced Congers Elementary School families have an added opportunity to visit the new schools their children will be attending. The district released a list of additional tour times of the three schools.

Kindergarten and first grade students who will be attending Lakewood Elementary School can visit it tonight at 6:30 p.m. to tour the school and see their classroom.

Second and third grade students who will be attending New City Elementary School can tour it tonight at 7:30 p.m. and visit their classroom.

Fourth and fifth graders who will be going to classes at Laurel Plains Elementary School can see their classroom and walk through the school beginning at 8:30 p.m. 

Assistant Superintendent for Pupil Services Jeffrey Sobel will lead the tours. Congers Principal Martha Ryan is finalizing schedules, contacting families and working on other issues.

Many of the almost 300 students displaced by the announced closure of Congers Elementary School last week due to unsafe conditions went to their new schools this past Wednesday. Principal Ryan greeted the families at each school and led a short meeting prior to their walking tours.
