New School Visits Scheduled For Congers Students
With Congers Elementary School shuttered indefinitely, Clarkstown School District administrators and others have been working on the transition to other schools.
As announced at Friday’s Community Meeting on the school’s closure for safety reasons, the Congers students will be able to tour their new schools on Wednesday. Congers Principal Martha Ryan sent a letter to parents on Sunday listing the times of the 30-minute visits. She will be at each of the schools to welcome the students who will go through the entire building and see their classrooms.
Kindergarten and first graders will visit Lakewood Elementary School in Congers at 11:30 a.m. Fourth and fifth graders will tour Laurel Plains Elementary School in New City at 12:30 p.m. and second and third graders will visit New City Elementary School at 1:30 p.m.

“I am confident that by working together we will get through this challenging time,” Ryan wrote. “Your continued involvement and support is greatly appreciated.”
A second Community Meeting on the school situation is set for 7 p.m. Tuesday night at Clarkstown South High School. About 100 parents attended the first meeting where they heard from and questioned district administrators and principals.
