UPDATE: Phone Service Out In Eight Clarkstown Schools Now Restored

Verizon is working on problem affecting elementary, middle and high schools

Update 2:04 p.m. - Phone service has been restored in the eight schools. The schools can be contacted directly.

Phone service is not available in eight Clarkstown Schools this morning. They are: Link, New City, West Nyack, Woodglen Strawtown and Little Tor elementary schools, Clarkstown South High School and Felix Festa Middle School. According to the school district, Verizon is working to correct the problem and notification will be sent out when service is restored. The affected schools cannot receive incoming calls from outside lines, but the central office can transfer calls. Its numbers are: 845-639-6418 or 845-639-6455.

Verizon has corrected the issue and the phones have been restored at the following schools: Strawtown Little Tor SHS FFMS Link New City West Nyack Woodglen You can now call the school directly.

Verizon said two copper cables were malfunctioning. The problem was resolved and phone service restored to the schools but Verizon said the cables will continue to be monitored.
