Clarkstown South Frosh Baseball Wins Rockland County Title

"From Game 1, it was evident that this group was special."

This was the third consecutive title for the Clarkstown High School South boys freshman baseball team, which beat Suffern 3-2 for the championship.

Here's the write-up on the school district website:

If there was any extra pressure, you would never know it. High expectations, a streak to continue, the 2014 Clarkstown South Boys freshman baseball had one objective. They staked their claim at Coach Charlie D'Angelo's Third Consecutive Rockland County Title. A brotherhood, a bond made of appreciation and respect for one another, the freshman Vikings had one goal and wouldn't settle for anything less. Led by a strong core provided by its captains, Matt Jung, Jake Partridge, Mike Tagaris and Ryan Thomas, this was a group of resilient, modest and persevering young men who believed in themselves, believed in each other and believed in their coach.

From Game 1, it was evident this group was special, with heroics from James Parent's No hitter sealed by the RBI's from Kevin Montague over Mamaroneck, this team played the most entertaining baseball in Clarkstown. They battled, fought, scraped and stole every one of their 14 wins, always having the never quit, us against the world mentality.  The playoffs were no different as they defeated Clarkstown North 3-2 in 10 innings and a game ending dramatic double play to seal the championship versus Suffern 3-2.  When asked by parents about the feeling and accomplishments of the team coach D'Angelo responded, "The highlight of this all, the support from all the former players, parents, friends and South Community. It was great to see all that Viking pride even storm the field at Suffern when the final out was recorded. I truly feel that this was for anyone and everyone connected to the baseball program and Clarkstown HS South of the present, past and future. This was for everyone in Brown and Gold."
