Little League All Star Tournament is a Home Run for ARC of Rockland

Thursday night began the New City Little League Annual ARC All Star Invitational Tournament. This year’s tournament is being held at Zukor Park. 10 all-star teams from around Rockland will be playing, and each team is guaranteed at least three games before eliminations begin.

 

Four teams kicked off the tournament on Thursday evening.  New City Gold played against Suffern, and the Nyack and Valley Cottage team went head to head gainst South Orangetown. The young men on the teams are all entering the seventh or eighth grade, and are either 11 or 12 years old.

After grueling battles fought by all four teams, the Suffern boys beat New City Gold 2-1, and the South Orangetown team won 7-3.

The proceeds from the competition, that include the leagues’ entry fees as well as donations from sponsors including Councilman Frank Borelli, American Burrito, Mainly Monograms, Sign-a-Rama, King Kone, King Kone II, and New City General’s Baseball will go to the ARC of Rockland.

 

The tournament will continue through Wednesday July 31st, with one all-star team coming out victorious. On Saturday, July 27th, Zukor Park will hold a skills contest that will include a home run derby, fastest man and outfield throw.
