New City Little League Introduces New Baseball Division For 2014

The New City Little League (NCLL) is introducing a transition program for 11 and 12 year old players for the 2014 season.

The Intermediate 50/70 Division will help them adjust to the difference between the 46/60 and the 60/90 fields. Players must turn 11 or 12 before May 1, 2014 to be eligible and must be New City residents.

The new division is competition and designed to accommodate more skilled players who can follow more of the rules of conventional baseball and lead off bases and pick off attempts but not on a full sized field.

Managers will select players using a draft and tryouts will be held before the draft. A continuous batting order may be used in the new division and players will typically be in the field for at least half of the innings of a game.  The 11 and 12 year olds will be pitching.

Drafted players will play in both the majors and intermediate divisions. Games will be scheduled to avoid conflicts with major league games. An additional $35 fee will be charged for the second uniform for the intermediate team.
