New City-Suffern-Congers Advances To Regional Semifinals

They play New Jersey on Wednesday

 

The New City-Suffern-Congers 9-10 softball all-star team advanced to the semifinals of the Eastern Regional Tournament in Old Forge, Pa. thanks to a win Monday against Maryland.

NCSC will play New Jersey on Wednesday for a spot in the finals. The New Jersey state champs, from Robbinsville Little League, went 3-0 in Pool B. NCSC went 2-1 in Pool A. The top two teams from each pool made the semifinals, with Pennsylvania (3-0) facing off against Delaware (2-1) on Wednesday to determine the other finalist.

NCSC earned a spot in the semifinals thanks to a 3-0 win on Monday. Kaitlyn Fudge pitched a complete game for NCSC, giving up two hits and striking out 10. She also had two hits.

Jenna O'Reilly drove in one of NCSC’s three runs.

“It is an amazing thing to see 13 girls go from their first practice together grow to a family of all-stars, and take on the best teams around and win a state championship and possibly more,” said Coach Eddie Fudge.
