“Pink In The Park” Boulders Game For Breast Cancer Awareness

The Rockland Boulders and Provident Bank Park go pink in a big way on Saturday, Aug. 31. The “Pink in the Park” event takes place for the game against the Newark Bears and supports the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer with pink baselines, a pink T-shirt giveaway, pink fireworks and pink lemonade. Breast cancer survivors and those in treatment will get in for free.

Boulders players and coaches will wear specially designed pink jerseys for “Pink in the Park” and proceeds from the 6:30 p.m. game benefit the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer to fund breast cancer research and access to care. Breast cancer survivors and those in treatment must go to the Provident Bank Park box office to receive their free adult ticket, one per person.

Pink chalk will mark the foul lines and the first 1,000 fans will receive a free “Pink in the Park” logo T-shirt. Minute Maid Pink Lemonade and Mike’s Hard Pink Lemonade will be sold with proceeds going to the charity. Following the game fans wearing pink will be invited onto the field to form a giant human pink ribbon, the symbol of the breast cancer cause. The event closes with pink fireworks.

“We’d like to have a sea of pink fill the park during one of our last days of our regular season play to create local awareness for the Avon Foundation,” said Shawn Reilly, Boulders EVP/general manager.

As an incentive, anyone wearing pink will receive a $1 off his or her game ticket price at the box office on game day. Reilly said the official “pink jerseys” worn by the Rockland Boulders and signed by them would be available for purchase through an online auction following the game and during the following weeks to benefit the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer.
