[POLL] Win Tickets To See The Dark Knight Rises: What's Your Favorite Batman Movie?

Tell us which Batman movie you think was the best, or who best played the Batman character and you'll be entered to win two tickets to see the new movie at the IMAX at Palisades Center.

UPDATE: 12 (NOON) Friday, July 20, 2012. The contest is now closed, but you can continue to vote in the poll on actors who played the role of Batman. Thanks to everyone who particpated in the contest and the poll.

Batman — the caped crusader — hits the big screen this week again with Christian Bale playing the iconic role in The Dark Knight Rises.

This is Bale's third time playing Batman after his starring role in Batman Begins (2005) and The Dark Knight (2008). With each new movie in the series, the pop culture debate over the best Batman movie — and who was best at playing the masked crime fighter from the comics — is renewed.

Patch wants to know which in the Batman series of movies, dating back to the first one with Adam West (from the TV series that ran from 1966 to 1968) in 1966, do you think was the best of the bunch. Who do you think was the best Batman.

Take the Patch poll and tells us in the "comments" section of this article why you made your choice. By submitting a comment, you'll be entered to win two tickets to see the movie on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. at the IMAX theater at Palisades Center mall in West Nyack.

Here are the details of the contest:

  • Open to legal residents of the 50 United States, the District of Columbia who are 18 and older.
  • To enter, take the poll attached to this story and write a comment about your favorite Batman movie or your favorite Batman character in the "comments" section of this story.
  • All entries must be received by Friday, July 20, at noon (12 p.m.) Eastern Time.
  • You may enter once.
  • Two (2) winners will be selected in a random drawing.
  • Each winner will receive two (2) tickets to the Saturday, July 21, 6:30 p.m. showing at the Imax Theater, Palisades Center, West Nyack, NY. Approximate Retail Value of tickets: $19 each. Transportation to/from the theater is NOT included in the prize and will be the responsibility of the winner.

I like Batman Begins best for the intelligent back story it showed : how Bruce Wayne became the person he is, skill, discipline and all.
Ryan Buncher (Editor) July 18, 2012 at 05:08 pm
That is my favorite as well, though The Dark Knight was also outstanding and I'm hopeful that the new one lives up to its promise. Seems like it has been a long time since I was hearing stories about them shoot in Pittsburgh. One of the locations was around the corner from my mother's home.
Joseph J Gannon July 18, 2012 at 05:11 pm
Talent notwithstanding, Ledger is a victim of misadventure by drug abuse and by his own hand...not the first in Hollywood and sadly not to be the last. The media had begun a practice of a decade or so ago of compliling and warehousing obituary data on the glitterati, many of them way too young: Amy Winehouse comes to mine as does Lindsay Lohan, but there are too many others.
Jeff Lewis July 18, 2012 at 05:15 pm
darn. I thought Patch had invented time travel, and that the winner would be able to see the movie before everyone else! ;-)
Kate Dizzine July 18, 2012 at 05:18 pm
Adam West -- absolutely. Grew up watching this series every day after school. Loved it :)
BillinNanuet July 18, 2012 at 05:26 pm
Dark Knight.......Heath Ledger was awesome in it
Kim Tran July 18, 2012 at 05:37 pm
Yes, I agree. I watched that movie specifically because of Heath Ledger. He was great in it
Peter Ubriaco July 18, 2012 at 05:41 pm
The 1966 film was the best. Adam West forever!
M. McCue July 18, 2012 at 05:46 pm
Adam West is my fave. Brings back good memories of years gone by.
Risa Hoag July 18, 2012 at 07:48 pm
Seeing this on the IMAX Palisades screen will be incredible! It is one of only 100 theatres in the country that has the capability to show it the way Christopher Nolan intended. Much of it was shot with IMAX cameras so those scenes will have their full intended effect on the IMAX Palisades screen! Can't wait!
Andrew Costa July 18, 2012 at 09:14 pm
My favorite movie was The Dark Knight. Always entertaining and Heath Ledger played an AWESOME Joker. I don't think anyone will best him. Unfortunately, he's passed on. The plot was epic and the actors and screenplay was amazing. By far my favorite!

My fav was the original TV series….so campy! Pow, Zap, Splat! So many Catwomen but Julie Newmar and Eartha Kitt were pretty hot and Anne Hathaway has to go pretty far to top them!

Aerial of United Water's proposed water treatment plant
Tom Nimick June 11, 2013 at 09:23 pm
Mr. Pointing says that an issues conference is unusual. The unusual step is called for because thisRead More project is highly unusual; it is unprecedented. This French-owned water company wants to implement its pet technology at our expense - it makes sense for the company because the project makes lots of money. There is information available that calls into question the "definitive" studies carried out by the water company. Of course they found that their technology was the best option - what a surprise! They have not made the case that they carried out a disinterested examination of the issues in the public interest. Yes there are still issues. Also, stop threatening us with increased costs from delay. First, it does not make sense and second, you are trying to bully us into accepting your proposal. That is one more sign that something is wrong in your proposal.
John Taggart June 13, 2013 at 08:08 am
An issues conference will be a wast of time and money. So many ' issues ' have been pulled out ofRead More thin air. The people who organized against the plant will just keep saying the same thing. No amount of info will be enough, no answer will be accepted. The issues conference will be a circus of endless questions, ideas, and demands. Haverstraw bay reclassified as drinking water will better protect it, provide an endless supply of water and finally help end the stereotype of the Hudson being polluted Recommend

Tom Nimick June 11, 2013 at 09:12 pm
There were no open meetings. I attended the April meeting and Mr. Lettre was directed by the TownRead More Board to return with more precise estimates and to include options for other upgrades. I have attended every meeting of the Town Board since that time and Mr. Lettre never returned in an open meeting. Mr. Borelli indicated that Mr. Lettre had addressed his concerns directly and privately. According to the Open Meetings Law, the deliberations of the Town Board are to be open and visible to the public. Private individual meetings or communications with members of the Town Board so as to avoid open deliberations flouts the intent of the Open Meetings Law. Mr. Gromack's statement of other meetings is inaccurate and, since it was specifically in response to a question about open meetings, dishonest. Mr. Borelli, shame on you for accepting a private communication and not standing by your guidance to Mr. Lettre that he was to come back to an open meeting of the Town Board.

Thanks for sharing, Grace! Your thoughts on their noise?
Grace Anthony Zemsky June 10, 2013 at 09:00 am
The traffic from the nearby Palisades Parkway is more of a noise nuisance than the cicada chorus.Read More (We have triple-paned windows because of it.) There is something almost musical about the hum of the cicadas. Of course, it may bother me more if I lived in the "affected area" and heard it constantly. Upon entering this nearby neighborhood, the sound crescendos. And yet, it can't be heard a couple of streets away. The drone of locusts is more bothersome than these 17 year cicadas.
